The HR Certification Centre, a beacon of excellence in the field of Human Resources, once again held its highly anticipated National HR Mentorship Cohort 5 Orientation on July 15, 2023. With a total of 100 mentees in attendance, the event took place at the National Banking College. As the 5th Cohort embarked on their transformative journey, the atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm, eagerness, and a shared commitment to growth and development.
In celebrating the one year anniversary of the national HR Mentorship, Mr. Frank Annan (Training Manager) briefly recounted the programme's history, dating back to its launch on July 9, 2022. Initially spanning over six months, the mentorship programme was later refined to a three-months duration, taking mentees through ten modules every Wednesday for 12 weeks. This restructured approach allows for a more intensive and focused learning experience, equipping mentees with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in their HR careers.
Each mentee was congratulated for securing admission to the National HR Mentorship Programme and for choosing the HR Certification Centre as their preferred platform for continuous learning and development. The official induction into the College of Mentees marked the beginning of a journey that promises growth, support, and networking opportunities.
Dr. Jeff Bassay, the founder and CEO of the HR Certification Centre, delivered an inspiring speech on the mentees' need for perseverance, resilience, and adaptability as they navigate their professional lives. "The same boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg," he quoted, emphasising that success is determined by an individual's response to challenges and determination to overcome them. He encouraged the mentees to set high standards for themselves and strive for excellence in their endeavours.
The guest speaker, Eugenia Plange, delivered a stirring speech that was one of the event's highlights. Speaking on the theme, HR and the Future of Work, She passionately encouraged mentees to cultivate adaptability, embrace continuous learning, and be change catalysts in their organisations. "The way to get started is to quit talking and to start doing," was her closing quote from Walt Disney, which inspired the audience to take action.
Lily Addai Nkrumah, the best mentee from the previous cohort, shared her valuable experience and insights with the new cohort. Her heartfelt gratitude towards the programme and the opportunities it offered resonated with all present, setting the stage for another successful batch of HR professionals.
The closing remarks were made by Pearl Amoah Amponsah, Chief Administrator of the HR Certification Centre. She revealed the mentors who will guide and mentor the mentees over the course of their 12-week journey. Mentors included distinguished HR directors and managers from well-known companies such as Tullow Oil, SIC Life, ABSA, GPHA, Republic Bank, Coca-Cola, CAL Bank, the Minerals Commission, Petrosal Ghana, and many more.
As the event came to a close, the mentees took photographs and networked, fostering a sense of camaraderie that would undoubtedly grow throughout their mentorship journey.
