A 38th cohort of Professional HR Certifications was launched by the HR Certification Centre, a renowned organization dedicated to developing leadership and human resources.
160 studying candidates for the in-person and virtual classes were welcomed to the orientation session by the Executive Director, Pearl P. Tehoda, who provided a concise overview of the professional certification programs, referencing the HR Certification Centre's fourteen (14) years of operations and ten (10) years of HR Certification. Over the past decade, the Centre has trained and tutored over 4,500 HR practitioners and business managers, making significant contributions to the HR community.
She also stated that the six-month program is an International Certification program from the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) in the United States. HRCI has been around for 50 years, is present in over 134 countries, and has certified over 800,000 professionals worldwide.
Dr. Jeff Bassay, Founder and Lead Facilitator of the HR Certification Centre, delivered the first lecture of the cohort on Strategic HR, following the welcome address. Commencing his speech, he discussed the recent shift in workforce demographics, digitization, and technology, saying that not everything can be digitised and that HR is not there for itself but for the business to meet the needs of its customers. Aside from rapid technological advancements, customer preferences, globalization, and continual changes in government legislation, he discussed the challenges that modern organizations face as they strive to grow their assets to gain shareholder profits, He stated, organisations are under enormous pressure to deliver on product promises. He examined the causes of organizations' difficulties in implementing meticulously crafted, data-driven, and actionable plans, which often result in failure to meet performance targets.
In conclusion, he quoted Jack Welch's famous words, "When the rate of change outside the organization exceeds the rate of change inside the organization, then the end is in sight." He underscores the pivotal role of HR within business decision-making, highlighting that the alignment of HR strategy with the overarching business strategy is essential for fostering growth and implementing impactful HR practises.
