Hence this was an opportunity for many young people to learn and improve upon themselves.

Selecting seasoned HR Practitioners with experience spanning from 8 years to over 22 years in industry and academia, the programme seeks to impact the lives of 50 mentees. These mentees are people interested in making a career in the HR field and sought to improve themselves. They went through an application process, were interviewed and carefully selected to participate in the programme.

The mentees are poised to receive mentoring from people who have completed their Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHRi) certification or are in the process of completing it. The mentors include Hilda De Souza of Menzies Aviation, Paul Otu of Tullow Oil, Marie-Ann Ocansey of Republic Bank, Yvonne Wiredu-Akpabli of Mediterranean Shipping Company, Ebow N. After the period of mentorship, the mentees will be assessed after which certificates will be given to deserving mentees. The programme comprises two meetings per month, projects and assignments, fun outings, team-building activities, the final evaluation and the closing ceremony.

Hilda De Souza, President of the Association of Certified HRs- Ghana admonished the mentees to take advantage of the programme as they were privileged to have such a tailor-made programme organised for them at no cost.

Adding up, a Senior Lecturer from the University of Ghana Business School, Dr. Yvonne Lamptey spoke about the changes in the place of work, especially with regard to the new generation. She encouraged mentors to try as much as possible to understand the expectations of mentees in order to provide them with mentorship that will benefit them.
