HR PRACTICE AND EMPLOYMENT LAWS (LABOUR LAWS OF GHANA)

The HR Certification Centre ended its week-long labour law masterclass on Friday, 13th May 2022 at the National Banking College, Airport Residential Area.

The just ended masterclass had participants from Greater Accra, Central and Northern Regions. There were over eighty (80) participants in attendance from diverse sectors of corporate Ghana: Banking, Manufacturing, Hospitality, Education, Security Services, etc.

The Country Director of the HR Certification Centre, Dr. Jeff Bassey addressing the participants of the masterclass said, the HR profession has become a heavily regulated profession hence HR practitioners must build their confidence in facing this phenomenon by mastering the application of the Labour Laws of Ghana.

The Masterclass had Dr. Jeff Bassey, Mr. Edward Briku-Boadu (former Chairman, National Labour Commission), Wing  Commander (Rtd) Samuel J.A. Allotey (a Human Resource Practitioner and Lawyer) and Mr. Stephen Osei-Kissi (Head of Regional Secretariat- National Labour Commission) as facilitators.

“Ignorance of the law is no excuse but ignorance of rules and regulations in the workplace is an excuse”, Mr. Edward Briku-Boadu said. He charged HR practitioners to ensure that company policies, rules and regulations are properly publicized within the organization to ensure each worker has knowledge of them to prevent their institutions from running into avoidable liabilities.

A participant, Abena Agyeiwaa Amoh-Yankyera lauded the HR Certification Centre for organizing the week-long Labour Law Masterclass and said, “it’s been eye-opening to learn about the complexities of labour in Ghana, as well as the number of concerns that have gone unnoticed due to lack of representation” on her post on LinkedIn: https://bit.ly/3LkJpl3
