"The Future of Organizations is HR…" Dr. Bassey

The HR Certification Centre(HRCC) has been organizing the National HR Mentorship to succor HR practitioners at the entry or mid-level of their careers to gain the necessary experiential knowledge from Senior HR Professionals that will galvanize their HR careers.

The 2nd edition of the National HR Mentorship saw about 120 participants from various tertiary institutions across Ghana and HR practitioners from different industries on Saturday, 22nd October 2022 throng the National Banking College, Airport Residential Area. There were also close to 30 participants of the Mentorship program join virtually as well.

Pearl Amoah Amponsah, the Chief Administrator of HRCC in her opening remarks to about 150 mentees both online and in-person, congratulated them and urged them to take advantage of the FREE opportunity to learn from Senior Industry Players in the HR fraternity.

“The future of organizations is HR hence HRCC’s commitment to the National HR Mentorship”, Dr. Jeff Bassey-the Founder and Executive Director of HRCC. He opined that the success of every organization is commensurate to the value of its human resources and without a functioning HR department the organization will not go far. Therefore, he and the team at HRCC are committed to helping HR practitioners build up their skill set and the National HR Mentorship is one of the ways.

Dr. Bassey also expressed his satisfaction with young people signing up for the Mentorship Program. He said, “Today, young people are heading huge conglomerates across the world. Currently, the average age for business executives is around 37 years”. He encouraged the young mentees to thrive for the top because age is no longer a limitation.

Nana Kwabena Yeboah, the HR Director of GCB Bank PLC was full of praise for the team at HRCC for providing a platform for young HR Professionals to jumpstart their careers. He encouraged mentees to seize the opportunity to draw out of the mentors by asking very good and relevant questions that will impact their practice.

Dr. Yvonne Lamptey, the Acting Head, HR Directorate at the University of Ghana (UG) in her remarks said, “Mentees don’t want to be like you, they want to be like themselves, they want to be better than you”. She advised mentors to be more open and accommodating to ensure the best outcome. To the mentees, she said, “it is your responsibility to grow, now that you have the time and opportunity: take advantage of it”.

The 2nd edition of the National HR Mentorship is a 12-week virtual engagement that seeks to educate mentees on the following: leadership & personal effectiveness, strategic roles/key functions of an HR practitioner, talent acquisition, learning & talent development amongst others.
